St. Teresa of Jesus was a 16th century Carmelite mystic and reformer. Five hundred years have passed since her birth in 1515. Through the centuries her holy life and teaching on prayer and the spiritual life have guided countless souls who have felt the call to a deeper union with God. Few saints in history have written about the life of prayer with such clarity and detail, which is why she was proclaimed a Doctor of Prayer by Pope Paul VI in 1970. This book is in some way a ”condensed” version of her inspired teachings and experiences, with specially chosen quotes to highlight her wise counsels and instruction on the spiritual path.
